Boschendal Wine Estate Picnic

With the weather slightly uncertain, you don't know whether to stay in bed or head for sunshine, let me tell you about this little gem. Boschendal Wine Estate has 2 picnic sites, one is more formal while the other is more family friendly. This really is a fantastic little place with these massive trees and hidden gardens filled with squirrels and other lovely bits and bobs.

While I love a picnic, I don't always have the pleasure of booking a picnic ahead of time, which makes this little bistro a fantastic spot for a light lunch and a great coffee. Why not stop and the little country butcher (great biltong and actually fantastic plain yoghurt) right next to a little shop.

The park (almost right next to the bistro) is really cute with a hidden kiddies playground with an intricate bamboo waterfall and swings. The Little One only left as we promised her food, otherwise she would still be playing here.

The picnic spot is massive and they provide bean bags and chairs. I took 2 massive towels with which came in handy. There is a bar and a coffee stand to buy drinks and a special place you pick up your basket. There is also a pond, a mini playpark and horse riding.

We order one picnic basket and one kiddies picnic and a bottle of wine. This is what we had:

Hubby gave the chicken the best compliment possible: He said it tastes even better than Woolworths'! I really loved the garlic mayonnaise (I took the leftovers home for sandwiches!) and the onion marmalade was fantastic.

After lunch we just laid back, had some wine and watched the Little One run to her heart's content. We are just waiting for some sunshine, and maybe we will see you there?
