Quick crispy onions for burgers


The Eldest love crispy onions on her burger, so while making a mushroom sauce cheese burger, I decided to try something to make these quick crispy onions. I took the idea of coating the onions in cornflower from the various chicken recipes and realised you don't need to make a batter. I started with just frying the onions and then added cornflower in and quickly stirring them to coat the onions instead of prepping them and it turned out amazing.


So here is a better prepared recipe:

  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • oil for frying 
  • 2-3 tsp corn flour (Mazina)
  • Salt and pepper
  1. Heat a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Toss the sliced onions in the corn flour and coat evenly. 
  3. Add oil to the pan.
  4. Add onions and fry until golden.
  5. You can always add more corn flour if needed, just stir quickly to coat.
  6. Enjoy!
